Spotify – will it succeed?

There has been a lot of talk lately about Spotify, the music sharing site. Both supporters and cynics have been debating its success, with some saying it will close before the end of the year, despite the increasing growth of music downloads.

However, this doesn’t seem to be the case. While the vast majority of Spotify users do not pay, the site’s supporters suggest that only 10 per cent need to sign up to pay for the site to succeed.

And it is well on its way to achieving this figure.

Music downloading is sure to continue growing, and Spotify is well placed to take advantage of the demand.
